About this Location

The LA Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) is the busiest in the nation, swearing in 12,000 young Americans who go forth to protect and defend the Constitution annually. It is the single largest volume facility in the nation, where nearly 5% of all military members start their service.

Our doors at MEPS are open every weekday for the brave young men and women who stand, raise their right hand, and vow to protect and serve our nation. Our volunteers provide a stress-free USO center for enlisting service members to enjoy an assortment of games, snacks, beverages, and entertainment. We aim to educate them about the USO and its 200+ worldwide locations upon entry to the military. It is an honor to be there to support them and their families as they start on this new journey in their lives and have the opportunity to teach them about the mission of the USO and how we will support them through their service.

A congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and corporations to support its activities, and is powered by a family of volunteers to accomplish our mission of connection.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please visit www.volunteers.uso.org. You will need to click the box “Volunteer at a USO Center’, and then click “Continental United States”. Next select “California” and “LAX” in the dropdown menus, and then complete and submit the Volunteer Interest Form.

“A giant in the San Diego business and philanthropic community for decades, Neil and his lovely wife June have been consistent and doting benefactors of the USO, displaying a fierce and undeterred commitment to our troops and their families throughout the county. Neil’s memory will endure, of course, every time a guest walks into the USO San Diego Neil Ash Airport Center."
